Myspace Cyber-bullying

There was a recent story on a girl named Megan Meier who commited suicide because of cyber-bullying. This is an epidemic that has to be stopped before it gets so out of hand that no one is able to stop it. this girl had been arguing with a neighboors daughter. the girls mother made a fake mayspace account of a boy that befriended Meier. He soon began to slander her name and post disturbing things about her on myspace. Megan Meier later hung herself in her closet becuase of this.

Cyber-bullying is being taken to the point where everyone is invovled with it, even parents bulying children. this needs to be stopped because you never know a child or anyone will take to the mean and horrible things you say. There is achance that they may not react to it but there is still the possiblility that they may harm themselves and others.

Is Facebook Helpful?

Many believe that facebook is one of the most helpful sites on the internet. which in most cases it is. but facebook can be helpful to people ing ood ways and or bad ways. For example, there was a story on ABC recently about a girl from Reinhardt University who found her bith family though Facebook. She was reunited with her family and now never regrets using Facebook as a means of finding them. Facebook is also used as a way to communicate with friends and family without having to waste mintues on the phone or txting charges.

But there is always a bad side to things. There are people who use facebook to wead out people who they think will not be good for a job. then there are those who again lvoe to stalk others or are predators.

Is the email soon to be pointless?

I Look closely at people and see nobody uses the Internet to send regular emails anymore. What is up with that? I can tell you one thing,  email accounts for the younger generation is honestly pointless. We do not use it and the only time we would use it is to email are teachers letting them know we wont be in class because of whatever excuse we have.

With that being said about our generation, what about the generations after us? They wont have an email account probably until the get to college. Kids now a days have cell phones as early as the ages of 10,11, 12 etc. I remember my first cell phone wasn't until I was 16.

Now, since kids have cell phones early, why have an email account? Kids talk to their friends through text message, and instant messages. Have you ever ever heard any kids tell their friend email me, we will talk? No they say text me, and or I will talk to you online. The generations that come after us, emails will become pointless until they get to college.

to catch a predator - the GAY teacher

How to slow down stalkers

There are a lot of men that prey on little boys, and little girls. How do we control it? Law enforcement is trying to crack down on these grown men in kids chat rooms. This is a good thing because the men that are out there have to second guess what if this is a sting operation to get me?

With them second guessing in the back of their mind, it is a step in slowing this type of thing down. But will men preying on little kids online ever stop? No there will never be a complete stop, and that is what is sad, and scary at the same time because it could be you child that falls victim to these stalkers.

Cyberstalking

There is no one way to describe cyberstalking. Cyberstalking can be stalking because you are just obsessed with this person but wont even harm them. What I mean by that is you go online to find out information on someone and you just leave it at that. If on a status  a person says, "Out to lunch at the China buffet," then that is where you will be so u can see him or her. There is no such thing as good stalking but I can honestly consider that as harmless stalking

Then you have your crazy Cyberstalkers where people will go, and try to harm this person. People can make threats towards them about their friends, mother, brother, sister, father, cousin etc. anybody that associates with the person who is being harassed. The person that is making the threats has a sense of power. They think they control the person who is afraid of them. They can send a threating message that if they tell on them then they will hurt anyone who is close to them, and with that being said the person being harassed is stuck.

Law enforcement response: specialized units show promise in combating cyberstalking

"A growing number of law enforcement agencies are recognizing the serious nature and extent of cyberstalking and taking aggressive action to respond. Some larger metropolitan areas, such as Los Angeles and New York, have seen numerous incidents of cyberstalking and have specialized units available to investigate and prosecute these cases. For example, Los Angeles has developed the Stalking and Threat Assessment Team. This team combines special sections of the police department and district attorney's office to ensure properly trained investigators and prosecutors are available when cyberstalking cases arise. In addition, this specialized unit is given proper resources, such as adequate computer hardware and advanced training, which is essential in investigating and prosecuting these technical cases. Similarly, the New York City Police Department created the Computer Investigation and Technology Unit. This unit provides regular training for police officers and prosecutors regarding the intricacies of cyberstalking investigations and prosecutions. The training includes understanding how chat rooms operate, how to obtain and preserve electronic evidence, and how to draft search warrants and subpoenas."

What Ever Happened To Hi My Name Is?

What has happened to walking up to a person and asking them their name, and having a conversation with them? If you like a person now a days you probably wont come outst tell them. You do your homework on the girl you admire, and then go from there.

What I mean by homework is, you see what the girl, and or guy likes.  and you base your actions on what u find to make it seem as though the two f you have something in comman, when u really might have nothing in common. Facebook, Myspace etc. all these websites are places where you put your infromation out there and people know you without even meeting you.

There are all of these websites where people meet others before they see them face to face. There are Facebook stalkers out there that go on your page, looks at your pictures and just obsess about you. Do you accept people that you only know? Or do you accept people that want to get to know you?

Are emails Pointless?

What ever happened to emails? Why don't we use them as much? I can easily answer that emails take to long they are not a quick hitter. What i mean by a quick hitter is you don't get a quick response back. You send a email hope the person gets it you check still no response. Honestly emails just take to damn long.

When do we use emails, and when i see we I am speaking about our generations. our generation barely uses emails the only time you see us us an email is to email our teachers. Now in the email we send to our teachers is probably  "I am sick wont be able to make it to class" other than that probably never. we have to many communication ways to where emailing is pointless

What about the generations after us? They are probably not going to even know what an email is. You don't hear kids saying email me they say "text me" "Instant message me" email me never. Kids have sell phones at 10, 11, 12 etc. years old. I didn't have my first sell phone until I was 16 Times have changed. generations after us most likely wont be using a email account until they get to college where it is required.

Youtube

YouTube is something that we thrive off of, and also YouTube thrive off of us. What do you need to do to become famous? I know that many of us want to find a way to get rich quick, why not try YouTube? the next question is what is funny, and what is not funny?

For example Antonie Dodson "Hide your kids hide your wife" he was being dead serious in what he was saying but it was funny to many people at the same time, and now he is famous. The next example was that little 17 year-old doing a bad job lip singing. The sad part about it is he was just probably recording himself having fun singing a song he likes. I believe when people try there hardest to make people laugh it is not funny. this is just something that has to come off as natural.

With that being said there are an abundance of YouTube videos of people trying to do something that stands out, and its not even funny. Personally I hate when people try to be funny. It is either you have it or you don't.

The videos you see at the bottom is someone that is funny, and then the last one is someone trying too hard to be funny, and it went wrong.

Does Free Mean Free?

Does free mean free? Do we give back to those who have given a free gift? Well this is what some producers believe. When you receive a pen do you read what is on it? Majority of  the answers will probably be no. we do bot look at a pen to read what is written on it. we only use it for its sole purpose and that is to write. The times that we do see a company trying to promote something on a pen is when we are bored in a classroom or waiting room, some type of place where we have time to read whats around us. We don't look at it  as though, well Burger King put their logo on a pen, so now I have to go support them. this would be because I am using their pen. We choose to eat Burger King because we are hungry, and that what we prefer not because a pen told us to. The same type of situation goes for T-Shirts. T-Shirts are really what will catch a persons eyes. Whenever we are walking around with a free shirt we are supporting that business. For example, when Chase Bank was giving out free T-shirts I had taken one not because I was going to bank with them, I just needed a shirt to go sweat and workout in. But am I wrong for that? My answer is no they are giving away free things so why should we have to go bank with them? What companies should do then instead of feeling "robbed" is when ever somebody signs with you, like a car dealer ship, bank, phone company etc., give them a shirt so you can see that we support your company. If you are giving something away for free, expect the public to take to it as something that was givin to them because it was free. Now it is definitely obvious that nothing is free there is always a catch, whether to go to their site to watch something, and or to join their company. There is always a catch to something free.

WATCH this Video, get a FREE T-shirt, WIN $50K!!!

Nothing is free companies expect you to do something when they give, and or offer you something for free. Here they are having you go and watch this then they want you to go to their website there is always a catch

Secrets of Making Money Online

We can make money

Reading Jenkins, many people believed that the Internet is using them but we can use the Internet. Blogging can help a person make money. You have to find something that you are passionate about and start a topic conversation. Hopefully there will be people who will come across it and start a conversation. Trying to make money off of the internet it is what a person would call " Simply Luck". What I mean by simply luck is that hopefully the right person is surffng the internet and will come across your blogg. Once this person is interested in your blogg, he or she will become interested in you. What also helps with a topic of your choice is confidence. You have to be confident in everything you produce because if your are not,  why should anyone else be?  Another thing woulde be being diverse. Have other things that interest you that you can come up with because you never know what can come out of  what you are pasionate about. Trying to make money off of the internet takes time  and you will not just invest your time one day and see money tomrrow. Getting money back takes time. Years might go by before you see your work payoff. I use to think the internet uses people but we too can use the internet to make money. The video underneath will show more in detail on how you can profit off the internet

What is a blog?

15 REASONS WHY BLOGGING IS IMPORTANT

1. It brings ideas out to the public - a lot of people have some pretty unique perspectives. Now, we all get a chance to hear those ideas and explore them.

2. You can get something off your chest - imagine if violence in the world went away because more and more people used their Blogs to express themselves (good, bad and ugly)?

3. There are multiple truths - the old saying, "there are three sides to every story" obviously came out long before Blogging. We know there are millions of truths (aren't there?).

4. New ideas - A lot of Blogs are riffs on other people's ideas, but once in a while you come across something new, brilliant and beautiful - knowing full-well that this idea would never had seen the light of day if mainstream media was the only place you could publish your idea for the world to see.

5. Different perspectives - probably one of the most amazing things about a Blog - all the various voices from different parts of the world, and how they all flow and groove together. Blogging breaks down cultural and geographical borders. Is there anything more fascinating than alternative opinions?

6. Disintermediate traditional media - is something that was written or reported about you (or your company) inaccurate? Well, because of Blogging you can set the record straight.

7. Search - as powerful as Universal Search will be in the coming years, human beings will still always search for content using text. Search Engines love Blogs. Having your content available and present when someone is doing a search with your keywords is critical, and will become even more important in the coming years as more and more Consumers first brand interactions happen at the search box.

8. Empowers people to respond - we love Blogs because people can leave a comment or trackback to your thoughts. The medium is one that not only encourages people to respond, it was built with that as one of its sole purposes. Blogging has become a true forum for exchange.

9. Very niche segments - isn't it amazing that there are multiple places where you can get perspectives on Digital Marketing, Personal Branding and Social Media like this Blog? The power is not in producing a Blog that had wide mass appeal. The power is in creating a Blog that has niche appeal. Then, all of the Blogs combined make up a mass amount of content that has appeal to all. Where else can you argue and exchange ideas all about your personal areas of interest?

10. What you're saying isn't half as cool as what people are saying back - think about that. Your Blog acts as a spark to the conversation. So, if you're Blogging for Business or as a Marketing tool, the real "win" is your ability to hear what's coming back and make your products and services better.

11. The signal to noise ratio is worthwhile - sure, most of the comments and feedback you get are self-serving linkbait, but there will always be a handful that are insightful, thoughtful and will change your previous conceived perceptions. I've had a comment or two that have made me question the human condition. It's powerful.

12. Community can help you solve problems - this needs no explanation. By constantly providing insights and a platform for communication, there is now a community of people who are ready, willing and able to help and contribute.

13. It's all about honesty - honesty brings success. The more honest you are, the better the Blog is. I believe this to be one of the major reasons why the Blogs I love most are the ones that are not relying on third-party advertising or major industry support.

14. Legacy - Google has a very long tail. Whatever you Blog about becomes part of our global and collective history. It's there (in some form or another) forever. While that will scare some, I think it's one of the coolest things ever. It forces me to think long and hard about what I'm going to post and, more importantly, how that post is going to look in two-three years time. Whatever you Blog about is going to be there forever.

15. Blog = Personal Brand - it's your channel to get your message out. It is how people will see you. It is what people will think about when they hear your name. How do you make a Blog successful and build your Personal Brand? Look at #13.

CHANGE

In 1993, the internet was looked at as helpful, informing and connecting to other people. To this day it remains the same. helping people connect to others. Those are the only similarities they have. Now 18 years later people are hooked on it. People spend hours upon hours on the internet almost like a job that they dont ever get paid for. This is definetley what a person wouuld call "Free Labor". Youtube makes a lot of money off of people posting videos on their site. How is it that we dont recieve a penny for making sites popular? Are we using the sites or is the site using us?

My Money For Entertainmet

After reading Jenkins chapter two I had a few questions running through my mind. Why is it that we, the consumer, help these companies make money, and we don't get a penny from them? Why when we pay money to be entertained we don't get our money's worth. Why don't we get our money back? Why is it that if I pay for a song on Itunes I can't do whatever I want with that particular song? These were just a few questions that crossed my mind. I know that everyone has had a time where there is nothing to watch on television. We might not think our money is being wasted but it is. We are the consumer that wants to be entertained, so  it would only be appropriate if you would do exactly that. I watch a lot of television, movies, and play video games. It would be remarkable if the manufacturer or the entertainment industry sent me a check at the end of the year for all the money I put in to being entertained. A funny but informational thing to do would be to make me a consumer of the year award. Informing the world of how much money I put in to being entertained. I say the award should be free entertainment for a year and or a money award. You can never go wrong with getting free money as a reward.
